|
|
Hi, I need help!
I have a client in a conservation area who (quite respectfully) wants to recreate the old style sign of his new shop but with his name instead, obviously.
The lettering is carved/formed, gold leafed (probably) and surface mounted in a box frame, with a piece of glass in front with a black mask painted on the inside. Most of the construction we can handle, but I'm struggling to find someone who can make the ornate lettering. I don't mind what it's made of, but it needs to be fancy!
All/any help greatly appreciated. _________________ Tony Brooks

No cnc router here. I just got a quote from smart-group. Has anybody used them before? Can anyone recommend a company capable of cnc routing these letters from signfoam? _________________ Tony Brooks

Signfoam is ideal but seriously expensive. 19mm foamex can be carved ok on a cnc router. It will leave a coarse surface on the letters but this can be rectified with a good 2k high-build primer and some elbow grease.
Next you get someone like Wayne (www.osbornesigns.co.uk) to gild the letters. _________________ James Kelly

Thanks James. Do you have a CNC router? I will probably gild the letters myself. No harm in a bit of elbow grease either. _________________ Tony Brooks
